I set the action of, Just Looking, at the transept of the mall where, at that time, the airline offices were located. I wanted to pitch the traffic of tourists in a swifty, more transient brushing against the more enduring, solemn Aboriginal figure. Gustave Caillebotte's, 1877, Rue de Paris: Temps de Pluie expresses the feigned casualness of the city dweller as stranger in their own environment, a notion that inspired my thinking. So, the Aboriginal figures (Edward Neal, Gregory Johnson, Nijas Ryder, & David Johnson) prevail against the scale of the built environment and present a wall across the pedestrian corridor.
