Kids Digging for Yalke

1994, 94 x 158 cm   NFS

This painting attempts to capture the casual feeling of the kids from Whitegate, with my daughter, Ronja, scratching for bush onions. After these small bulbs are harvested, they are lightly rolled in warm ashes and have a nutty taste. I gave a roseate hue to the work to intensify the feeling obtaining on these Sunday excursion in the dry creekbeds, a few kilometers east of Whitegate.
