Myra Hayes, dubbed the 'Queen of Whitegate' by the families therein, was the major mover and shaker for any kind of upgrading in camp. In 2002 Tangentyere Council hauled a demountable dwelling, of the sort used for temporary accommodation on remote road construction camps and for staff on some remote schools, out to Whitegate for the Queen and her husband, Simon Toby, seen sitting on the extreme end of the building.
