I used one of the floats from the 1988 Bangtail Muster Parade for the tableau in this work. Dominic Gorey and I used to sit and play together in camp and at my place. The idea of sequential couplings, entering and exiting the stage was a commentary about ourselves as props used to stage the paintings. In 1992, I tried to push this work further, obliterating its pointillism, and only succeeded in losing the contrasts between the fine dotting and the skin tones.
